Avatar , is the film of the moment, everyone is talking about and, for once, many for the luck of the cinema in general, go see it.
This is an absolute masterpiece? I think not, otherwise you do not fill the theaters for sure ... The masterpieces are never understood by now.
However I decided to talk about on this blog because I believe that the film has many advantages for both the environmental message that runs for his undoubted value to the historical-cinematic.
Avatar is poised to become a short film with the highest-grossing film history. Millions of people have already seen and many are preparing to go see it. The film's success at the global level is such that we can not limit themselves to a simple trend. Those of you who were willing to see this film are weapons of patience required to make a long queue to enter the cinema, prepare to pay a price higher than normal (fare in cinemas in Florence, € 10.50) and especially is about to wear the now famous and needed glasses for viewing three-dimensional.
assist admit to watching a movie with the room almost exhausted is not something I experienced for some time.
From movie fan I consider this an important and positive fact. Was it really necessary to give fresh oxygen to the cinemas in decline and crowded but once a year during the Christmas holidays. Ben films are therefore able to reverse this trend. I'll be a nostalgic, perhaps, but for me the film should be seen first of all to the movies.
What, then, that pushes even the most reluctant to go see Avatar ?
Among the merits of the film is without doubt the great ability to involve the viewer in a parallel world within which you can dive even apart from the stunning effects of 3 D. I am convinced that the film's success is contributing to its three-dimensional projection, but are also equally convinced that the film would also be a resounding success even if it were distributed only in 2D.
Among other things, I found a little 'hard to keep these heavy glasses for the duration of the film (over 160 minutes). And I'm not at all certain that the 3D in general, then the revolutionary invention they say.
The real effects that Avatar produces in the viewer are dell'immedesimazione offering the plot which is also built on an extremely simple and perhaps that is easily understood by all. All the stories that overlap and are narrated in the film we have been told in the past. There are dozens of movies that can remind Avatar: Dances with Wolves by to Pocahontas, from Jurassic Park to Titanic (which by the way, for those who do not know, was created in 1997 by the same director Avatar, James Cameron ), just to name a few, and not to mention the countless examples half of film (cinema films) that recall movies like night Effect of Truffaut, Hollywood ending Woody Allen, Sunset Boulevard Wilder, Contempt by Godard or The State of Things Wenders, to name only the first titles that come to mind. I
I found a great parallel with Rear Window .
if I remember correctly, all the known story of this masterpiece by Alfred Hitchcock revolves around the eyes of the protagonist. The public identifies herself with the protagonist in what he sees and knows only what he sees and knows. Rear Window rightly become part of film history, in the end does that represent a great metaphor for the viewer. The protagonist immobilized and locked in his apartment looking at the world outside from the windows of the house just as the viewer in the dark of a cinema that shows what looks to be that great window is the display.
mutatis mutandis James Cameron after more than 50 years adapting and updating it offers something similar to our own times and exploiting the enormous potential of new technology. What is being offered to the viewer who sees the film Avatar is a restatement of what the nth made in 1954 it Rear Window.
The viewer identifies herself, thanks to the use of 3D, the protagonist, which in turn identifies herself in the body of an alien being vivendone and feeling all the emotions and feelings. All this is further amplified by the fact that the same mechanism is involved in not one but multiple protagonists of the story told in the film.
But the brilliance of Avatar is not only that.
Cameron builds the perfect world in which many of us would like to move to live. What Pandora, the planet on which the story takes the Avatar - marked by mountains floating vegetation bioluminescent, multicolored flying beings with four wings - is probably the Paradise Found human imagination not only in terms of an irrepressible physicality and extraordinary beauty of the environment, but also on philosophical and moral people played by Na ' you living in total harmony with nature.
And here's the crucial aspect, as regards the environment, the value of the film: the message that Avatar is launched at the end that as environmentalists we strive to pass on to future generations and that, however vaguely, I also recalled the principles of permaculture, least in the constant search for balance between man and nature wants to pursue this new practice.
The true genius of James Cameron has been to create a special container so attractive and compelling as to be credible any kind of message he had decided at the end of pouring out. His goodness, Cameron has chosen the path of nature preservation and the Pacific.
The human species is one with nature and destroying it also condemns itself . The message, banal, if you will, at least for those who deal with some issues for some time takes a really huge significance if we consider the great difficulties and the enormous efforts that convinced every environmentalist takes to transmit it to others.
This film will be seen by hundreds of millions of people. We should be happy.
Certainly the message to protect the environment may be too conventional. If I did not know the filmography of the director (in recent years has focused on achieving nature documentaries), and his political convictions ( James Cameron, after the second Bush victory the 2004 U.S. presidential election, chose to withdraw its application for U.S. citizenship), I am tempted to speak of opportunism on the part of Cameron that exploits the tendency of ecology, now very fashionable, and able to provide them with an easy success.

In fact, I think back this choice there are any real convictions. Moreover
not be explained otherwise, the solutions adopted in the construction of the screenplay, too accurate, logical and complex not to be the result of deep convictions.

If you're still able to move and adult children back for a few hours, forgetting the reality and accept with enthusiasm the desire to live a fairy tale, go and see this movie. You will be entertained.
If not, and a little 'pity you, you better save the time and expense.
